Wilfredo, a Junior in High School (Burlington High School) was diagnosed with Mixed-Phenotype Acute Leukemia and he has started treatment. Wilfredo started to create his own paper cranes but needed many more to complete a Thousand Origami Cranes (千羽鶴 Senbazuru) is a group of one thousand origami paper cranes (折鶴 orizuru) held together by strings. An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by the gods. Some stories believe you are granted happiness and eternal good luck, instead of just one wish, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury. Thanks to a full team effort at BHS of students and staff made cranes, and a huge thank you to the ART STUDENTS and Art Club as they were able to string the 1,000 beautiful cranes that were delivered to Wilfredo and he was granted his wish.
