Landscape painter Arnie Casavant's ten day artist residency which was spread out over two months, ended this week and the students had lots to say about the experience:
"Painting can be frustrating but the end result was GREAT!" Sarah, grade 10
"Arnie's passion for painting was so clear and he shared that with us everyday"
Emily, grade 10
"Painting is hard but Arnie made it easy" Luciana, grade 10
"It was great to have Arnie paint in front of us ( during his demonstrations), it would be hard for me for someone to watch me paint, but Arnie did it and it helped us see the steps and process" Sarah, grade 10
The students each completed a series of landscape painting using oil paints for the first time! Check out these masterpieces:
Thank you Arnie for a great artist residency and the BEF for funding this inspiring lesson for our students.

I have never been so impressed with a group of young painters as this one. What a thrill and an enormous pleasure. Perfect young ladies and gentlemen. Christina Chang is a fabulous art teacher and an even better person. I'll be stopping in next year to see more successful paintings. Paint on !
