Design Challenge: Create a locker for school
For this mid-year exam you will complete the design challenge of creating a new locker for school. You will need to follow the instructions and design steps here: http://www.discoverdesign.org/design/instructions/locker You need to read all of the steps listed and complete some of the exercises. Here are the steps outlining the process that you must follow: Collect Information Brainstorm Ideas Develop Solutions Final Design ( Sketches and Prototype) On the day of the exam you will present your design process in a visual presentation and a 3-d prototype of the locker to the entire class. The type of visual presentation you create is up to you (example: presentation board, powerpoint, voice thread, showme, etc.). The goal is to show all of the steps and process for your design. You will need to work at home and in class. Grading Criteria: Visual Presentation that Illustrates Design Process 40% Final Design 60% For the final exam you will complete the Design Challenge: Refresh the History Hall.
You need to document and create a blog post explaining the design process and steps that you used. Your blog post needs to be descriptive, well written, edited and include photographs and images of the project from start to finish. Your blog post should address the following questions: What was the design challenge? Who was your client and what did they request? (you may use the notes from the client) How did you present your ideas to the client? ( you may include the presentation ) How did you meet their needs? How did the architecture of the space impact your design? How did you make your design decisions? Who was your guest artist? What did you learn from the guest artist? How did you change the space? What specifically did you do to transform the space? How did the existing space and colors of the hallway affect your choices and selection of colors and materials? Are you happy with how the room turned out? Why or why not?
