Cityscape Sketch
Objective: Create a sketch of a city scene from the picture that you found. Process: Find the horizon line and vanishing point Sketch the large areas and block in the perspective points Use pencil Don't be afraid to make changes This month you have choice based art assignments.
Look over the four assignments linked below and pick three to complete: Choice Based Assignments Step 1: WRITE THESE QUESTIONS IN YOUR SKETCHBOOK AND ASK YOURSELF THESE QUESTIONS BEFORE STARTING AN ASSIGNMENT How many ideas can I come up with? How different or original are my ideas from each other? How uncommon/ clever/ original are my ideas or responses? How detailed and well developed are my responses? How willing am I to risk embarrassment or rejection with my artwork? Step 2: After looking at the work of artist Georgia O'Keeffe examine and look at objects closely and in detail. Search around your house for objects that you can look at with great detail. Step 3: Select one object to draw in your sketchbook. The object should be something from nature. A shell, plant, starfish, coral, etc. Step 4: Sketch the object in pencil. The drawing should be a close up view of the object and should fill the entire page. Step 5: Add value and or color to the object that are realistic and accurate colors/ values. You may use any materials that you like to create this work of art.
