1/29/2013

Picture
Assignment: Create a pencil drawing of a still life scene at home that includes one sphere.

Instructions:
Draw a 9" x 12"rectangle in your sketchbook. You will create your drawing in this rectangle. You must use the entire rectangle.

The still life should have a minimum of three objects.  The objects that you collect may have personal importance to you or have a theme or relationship. ( example- a still life of fruit).

Set up a spotlight on the still life so that you can clearly see all of the values in the objects and clear and defined shadows and highlights.

Set up the still life somewhere that it can remain untouched for the length of the assignment.

Create a value drawing of the still life utilizing the techniques that you previously practiced in your value scale drawing and sphere drawing.

Be sure to start with small thumbnail sketches prior to starting the drawing.

When selecting the best composition remember to place all objects on a surface- you do not want any
" floating" or cut off objects.

This assignment should take two hours.
