Long Term Sketchbook Drawing of Fully Developed Idea
Objective:

Create a drawing in your sketchbook of a fully developed idea that shows
SPACE, DEPTH, LIGHTING, FORM and VALUE

INSTRUCTIONS:
Spend time brainstorming and sketching an original idea 
Ask yourself "Which idea is the most original and unique" 
Show sketches to a friend or teacher, get feedback and suggestions
Transfer sketch to the full size page
Spend at least 4-5 hours on the drawing over the month working on the drawing
Be sure to include space, depth, lighting, form and value

Due Date: Wednesday, October 23

Sketchbook Assignment:
Drawing of your hand from observation that shows value, shape and form

Instructions:
Create a series of drawings from OBSERVATION of your hand.
Create at least four drawings of your hand from observation
Use pencil for at least two of them
Observe the details of your hand
Take your time and don't rush
​Demonstrate your understanding of value, shape and form

Documenting Your Art and Turning in Assignments

When an assignment is completed you will need to take a high quality photograph of your artwork. 
Here are some tips:
  • Use the best camera you have (iPad, phone or teacher's camera)
  • The artwork should be neat, not folded or damaged
  • Hang the art on a flat wall or place on an easel
  • Set up art with light that is consistent and equal over the entire work of art (no shadows)
  • Take a few pictures
  • Check you pictures and select the most accurate one
  • Crop and straighten your work in photo editing app

Turn In the Photograph 
  • save the image to your google drive folder for this class ( create one if you have not already)
  • name the file with the name of the assignment. Move the image to your drive folder. DO NOT KEEP IT IN YOUR CAMERA ROLL!
  • go to google classroom and turn in your assignment

Course Description

This course is open to students of any and all drawing and painting skills. A wide variety of drawing and painting materials will be used, including but not limited to, charcoal, conte, graphite, watercolors, tempera and acrylic paints. Drawings from life and observation, as well as imaginative and expressive works of art, will be created. Art history, vocabulary and new techniques will be covered. Students will complete the course with an extensive Drawing and Painting portfolio.

1. SKETCHBOOK- Bring in your sketchbook from last year or get a sketchbook at Michael's, A.C. Moore or other art store. 

Please get a sketchbook that is 11" x 14" with 60lb. paper or greater. 
*any brand is fine but it must be the right size! Use coupons for Micheal's and AC Moore

2. Please bring in four pencils and two erasers in a ziploc bag or other container to keep in class.

3. Please bring in a box of tissues
