Objective: Create a painting using warm and cool colors of a landscape from imagination


Materials: 
Tempera Paint
Brushes
Paper
Paint palettes
Paper towels
Watercups

Steps: 
Set-up a paint palette with warm and cool colors
Mix a variety of monochromatic colors
Create a landscape painting from imagination that illustrates foreground, middleground and background.
Utilize the negative space in the drawing to create lines and repetition
Create a monochromatic colors scheme in the painting
Create contrast with warm and color colors
Create repetition with the shapes and forms

As an artist it is important to have original and unique ideas for your works of art. Finding your inspiration and personal voice in your artwork is a life long discovery for many artists. 

For this assignment you will research and look at art created by a variety of artists. 

Step 1: 
Go to Scholastic Art Awards and search through examples of artwork from other high school art students

Step 2:
Answer the google form here: Scholastic Art Awards

Step 3:
Check out the following artists:
Mickalene Thomas
Kehinde Wiley

Step 4:
Read about the guest speaker that we had last year and see the artwork that students created after the talk. 

Step 5: 
In your sketchbook create a list of 25 topics, issues and ideas that are important to you

We are fortunate to live in the Boston area and have a wonderful resource of local art museums. As discussed at the beginning of the year you are required to visit an art museum at least one time during this semester. 

After students visit a museum they are always inspired, amazed and rave about the wonderful time that they had at the museum. So go and enjoy some art!

Research and select the museum carefully for the content, location and hours. Use your student id for discounts or check out passes from the town library. LibraryInsight

This assignment is equal to one homework grade. You must bring in a flyer or postcard from the museum AND complete the form below after you go to the museum to receive credit.
