Unlike expressive lines, directional lines are very precise. Lines should all be the same thickness.
These lines look as if they are bending and overlapping. This is not "free" drawing like expressive lines but calculated, constant, and even.
This sketchbook assignment you will need to sit and listen. You will draw the sounds around you. You may use a pen or pencil. The entire page must be covered. This may take you several days worth of sounds to fill the page. The images you draw should reflect the sound. I will need to see at least 20 different sounds. If you hear a lawnmower you can draw the lawnmower and have a line that shows the variety. Like the examples above. Use your imagination.

-Timeline of your life- it does not have to be a straight line! OR Draw your self a year from now. Where will you be? What will you be doing? Focus on illustrating and ACTION and a Narrative SCENE. The sketchbook assignment should take 4-6 hours. Sketch ideas first and select the strongest composition. It should be a high quality work of art. |
